Personality:
Norway is a mysterious man of very few words, though his lack of speech is certainly not through an inability to be eloquent. He is more of a watcher than a talker, and his additional lack of any extreme facial expressions under most circumstances has been known to make people uncomfortable when trying to converse with him. Most people don’t really try more than once, but those who do would be rewarded as he becomes more open and vocal in subsequent interactions. When Norway does decide to speak, he is often blunt to the point of being rude, and will rarely apologise for being so unless it becomes apparent that he has genuinely upset the person that he’s speaking to. It isn't that he's inherently unfriendly - rather that he's simply very plain spoken. There's no point, in his mind, in using a hundred words to say what might just as easily be said in ten.

In his childhood, Norway was rather more animated than he is today, but difficult events over several hundred years of his life forced most of his emotions to introspection, and he no longer shows very much of what's passing through his mind on his face. Indeed, to look directly at his eyes would show that they seem to be heavily shuttered, with nothing showing behind them, as if he didn't have feelings at all. It is only in times of extreme emotional distress that this façade will break, and when this happens he has trouble reining himself back in. While he is as capable as anyone else to be given to raucous laughter or fierce temper, he would most certainly rather not, being uncomfortable with letting anyone in that close.

He is quite painfully shy around strangers, when it suits him, but tends to over-act in order to give an impression of confidence and often puts himself into a position to gain sympathy at the expense of Denmark. Denmark, too, is often the butt of his jokes and the target of his scathing wit (for example when he stated that the man was too noisy when he was selling toys), though he will never push it too far – there are some things that he knows he can't say, references to the past that still sting even after so much time has passed. He is fond of Denmark, despite his constant teasing of the man, and also holds Iceland very close to his heart, often trying to persuade the younger man to call him ‘big brother’ since finding out that they are ‘genetically’ linked. Norway can become somewhat intense about this in particular, leading to humorous situations as a result.

Although it has been some six hundred years since the Black Plague almost utterly decimated Norway's population and economical system, he still worries overly if he becomes ill. Currently, Norway’s economy is one of the best in Europe, but that doesn't keep him from fretting if he develops any kind of (often imagined) cough or headache. However, he is fiercely independent and very proud, so will rarely ask for any kind of help until he direly needs it, and will staunchly resist being told what to do even when it is something that would be in his best interest.

Being as stoic as he is, he does not make friends very easily, with most people being put off by his attitude and tendency to stare silently rather than speak, or to deliver brutal snark if he does deign to say anything. If you get past that first wall, however, you would find as good a friend as you could ever hope to have. He will give calm and well thought-out advice when and where it is needed, and will always repay a good deed. If crossed, however, he can hold a grudge for a very long time.

Powers/Abilities: Norway canonly has the ability to perform magic, and can also see mythological creatures such as trolls and fairies. He also has the longevity and quicker healing of a nation, and due to his long life has had the time to become an exceptional swordsman and archer. He is also very good at chess and is hinted to be a baker.

Keepsakes/Mementos:
 - Nordic Cross barrette
- sailor cap

Sample: The Kingdom of Norway would not simply lie down and expire, but Aleksander was tired.

For months, they'd been telling him that everything would be fine. For months he'd known that they were lying to him. The listlessness and lethargy which had once felt like something he would one day shake off and place as a distant memory like so many times before had settled into his bones and left him with the difficult-to-accept reality that there was truly no recovery from this. Everything had failed, everything they had tried had been left too late and riddled not with apologies but with excuses... and he had expected little else. The nature of humans couldn't surprise him anymore.

He wouldn't be the first to go. It had taken others before him. Some had simply drowned but Norway had enough land mass to fall to the second wave of difficulties - the disease and famine that inevitably followed. How could they have been so blind?
He wasn't sure how long he'd been sitting in this chair, but at least they'd stopped visiting. Stopped talking. Stopped lying.

He knew that he was going to die.

Yet, there was a peculiar kind of peace in it. The irony made him want to laugh sometimes and the waning of his strength had long since passed the time when reacting with temper would have been an option. Each breath felt heavy now, almost sticky, forced if not for the fact that his lungs burned without it if he thought to try and convince himself that it was no longer needed. He closed his eyes but his mind, with that indomitable strength of will that defined so many of his kind wouldn't let him rest, not just yet.

Norway kept breathing, slow, laboured, clinging to the last vestiges of what remained of him as a nation as he forced himself up out of that chair and walked with unsteady steps to the nearby drinks cabinet. It was an ordeal to pour a measure of akvavit, but worth it for the faint easing of the discomfort that it brought as it burned a comforting path down the centre of his chest. Perhaps it was better this way, he mused, feeling the light weight of a fairy creature landing on his shoulder. Even they were paler to him now. There couldn't be much longer left.

The glass slipped from his hands but he couldn't bring himself to curse when it shattered. There wasn't time, not as his knees turned to water and ceased being able to carry his weight. He hit his head against the cabinet, but it didn't hurt. Maybe nothing hurt now, or maybe everything did and he'd just ceased to notice.

It wasn't what he'd imagined dying would be like. While he took in the slanted view of the floor and quietly accepted that it would be his last, his mind found its way back into his youth.  He had always thought that war would be the thing to take him, but those he had once made war with had become his friends, his family, and then he had no longer wanted to fight.

Maybe.. they had been fighting the wrong battles all along.

Mindset: Norway is fairly sure that he died and he's at peace with that fact, but he would have his doubts about the reality of this setting as an 'afterlife' and, after some time has passed, that he actually did expire at all. He's used to the unusual and supernatural, having been surrounded by it all his life, so he may adapt more easily than some.

G̶̶l̨͡i̵͢t̷c͝͠h̕é͠s̷̷͡: He has a general dislike of forced social situation and is also a little bit of a hypochondriac. Anything that would seem to be threatening those he cares about, particularly Iceland and Denmark, would also be a big deal for him. Additionally, since he has a wide range of knowledge when it comes to magical creatures - both good and bad - there may be a lot to play with in terms of mischievous/harmful fae, spooks and spirits.
